9 of the Best Halal Chicken Wings in London
Today is a fabulous day. Want to know why? Well, I’m sure the title of this post will give it away, but it is National Chicken Wings Day! Or, more suitably, National Halal Chicken Wings Day – woo! And although this post is coming out a little late in the day, there is no harm in taking a whole week to celebrate this deliciously deep-fried, crunchy day! So here are 9 of the best halal chicken wings in London right now.
I’ll admit, I am not the biggest chicken wing fan but these 9 have certainly stood out to me as to being great quality, scrumptious, calorifically good wings.
1. STICKYWINGS

The OG of buffalo chicken wings, Stickywings has still managed to hold on to their title of serving some of the best buffalo chicken wings in London. Heck, they’ve even won awards for their wings! They’re garlicky, vinegary, and the perfect level of hot; just don’t forget to size up to a US portion
2. WARISAN CAFE

One wouldn’t think that this hole in the wall would serve up some of the best halal chicken wings in town, but Warisan Cafe does a mean portion of juicy, plump garlic chicken wings. The exterior has a crunchy, garlic infused skin that encases the most succulent fresh chicken, and boy are these wings humongous!
3. THUNDERBIRD

Thunderbird is not your generic chicken wing shop, but instead specialises in “different” flavours. Think salted caramel with smoked salt and chipuffalo which is a combination of buffalo and chipotle. These are the crunchiest of the bunch.
4. PASSYUNK AVENUE

Although Philadelphia are known for the classic Philly cheese steak sandwiches, they also do some mean chicken wings which is where Passyunk Avenue, a Philadelphia inspired restaurant, comes in. Their wings are jaw-droppingly good and possess a rich buttery and tangy flavour from the buffalo sauce.
5. PATTY AND BUN

Although we have to miss out on their delicious looking beef burgers, not all hope is last when it comes to Patty and Bun as their chicken is all halal! Their smoked confit wings are to die for and come smothered in bbq sauce and finished off with a sprinkle of spring onions.
6. WINGSTOP

This American import has been busy day in and day out since they’ve opened and with their long list of flavours, it’s easy to see why. From a tangy Brazillian citrus pepper and garlic parmesan to a spicier Korean Q and an even hotter atomic habanero wing, Wingstop has it all!
7. PECK PECK

Peck Peck probably wins the title of having the biggest chicken wings out of the lot and I’m not kidding, these could be a mini chicken themselves! Just be sure to go for the FRIED chicken wings as the buttermilk brine lets the chicken become incredibly tender and the American crumb has a fantastic and moreish peppery flavour. Plus, everything is better fried.
8. MEAT LIQUOR/MARKET/MISSION

Like Patty and Bun, Meat Liquor/Market/Mission certainly look like they have nailed their beef burgers and unfortunately, we will never get the chance to try them (please switch to halal – pretty pleeeease!). However, their chicken is halal in all the branches and by golly, do they serve up some good, spicy buffalo wings with a good blue cheese dunking sauce too.
9. CHIKN

CHIKN know how to do good wings; double fried (yes, you read that right), well seasoned, and incredibly meaty. You have the option of making these hot, or you can just wing it and have them naked – their words, not mine!
A special shout out to:
- Chicken Cottage spicy chicken wings – the peppery batter gets me every time and I miss the days where I would chomp away at these.
- KFC chicken wings – the hidden gem of all the wings in London, in my opinion.
- Dixy’s Fried Chicken – there is nothing classy about these wings but goodness, they are tasty.
