The start of September means it’s ‘Love Lamb Week’. We love a good lamb dish when we’re eating out, whether it’s grilled lamb chops, slow-cooked lamb, and many more. Here are some of our favourite lamb dishes we’ve had around town. Let us know if any of these are your favourite too!

Gymkhana, Mayfair
The Michelin-starred fine-dining Indian restaurant definitely serves some of the best and juiciest Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops in town. Well-marinated, spicy, and perfectly charred, each bite of the lamb chops was bursting of flavours and ridiculously tender and succulent. Other dishes at Gymkhana are exquisite as well and its opulent ambience makes it the perfect dinner spot for a special occasion.
Halal Status: Chicken, lamb & goat are halal. Alcohol present.
Address: 42 Albemarle St, London W1S 4JH

Berenjak, Soho
Berenjak is easily one of the best Persian restaurants in town. All their meat grills are great, but the Lamb Barreh Kebab is certainly one that stood out. There was so much flavour packed in one beneath that beautiful crust of the lamb. Enjoy it over a bed of saffron rice and it literally couldn’t get any more satisfying than this.
Halal Status: Chicken & lamb are halal. No pork but alcohol present.
Address: 27 Romilly St, London W1D 5AL

Mestizo, Euston
Halal-friendly Mexican restaurants are not the easiest to come by, but Mestizo is a really good shout should you fancy a taste of a variety of Mexican dishes. Their lamb barbacoa tacos are stellar, featuring rich umami flavours and tender melt-in-your-mouth texture. The lamb shank makes a great pick too.
Apart from lamb dishes, the grilled beef fillet (Filete Tampiquena) is a popular pick where you also get to sample a little bit of other items on the menu such as chicken enchilada, creamed corn, etc.
Halal Status: Chicken, beef, and a selection of lamb dishes are halal. Pork and alcohol present.
Address: 103 Hampstead Road, Euston, NW1 3EL

Etles / Turpan Uyghur
Lamb dishes feature heavily in Uyghur cuisine. In London, we particularly enjoyed the Steamed Lamb Dumplings and Lamb Skewers at Etles Restaurant. Expect really juicy dumplings that are bursting of flavours at each bite and lamb skewers coated generously with chilli and cumin. Turpan Uyghur is also another Uyghur restaurant that offers a lovely selection of similar dishes as well.
Halal Status: All meats served are halal at both Etles Restaurant and Turpan Uyghur. No pork or alcohol present.
Location: Etles – Finchley and Walthamstow | Turpan: Bloomsbury

Brigadiers, Bank
The snazzy Indian barbecue restaurant, Brigadiers, has no short of outstanding dishes. Their Afghani Lamb Kebab Skewer is one of our favourites and their sizzling Tandoori Lamb Chops are a decent meaty treat too. Brigadiers offers plenty of other luscious dishes, including the Masala Scallops, Tawa Carabinero Biryani, and many more.
Halal Status: Chicken & lamb are halal at Brigadiers. No pork but alcohol present.
Address: 1-5 Bloomberg Arcade, London, EC4N 8AR

Eggoland
The newly opened Eggoland offers easily the best egg sandwiches in town. There are plenty of options on the menu, including a lamb one which features Middle Eastern-inspired spiced lamb topped with perfectly fried egg, feta, mint yogurt and harissa butter. It’s hard to choose for just one favourite from the menu but if you enjoy eggs, it’s a must-visit.
Halal Status: All meats served are halal. No pork or alcohol present.
Address: 5-7 Tottenham St, London, W1T 2AG

The Great Chase
The Modern European restaurant, The Great Chase, has a changing seasonal menu but you can always count on them for delivering high quality food no matter the dish. Whether it’s the roasted Crusted Lamb Rack or a slow-cooked Lamb Shank, The Great Chase always brings fantastic flavours to the palate.
Halal Status: All meats served are halal. No pork or alcohol present.
