It really seems like London has pulled it out the bag this year when it comes to Ramadan. Not only are there loads of restaurants offering great iftar specials (more on that later), we’re seeing department stores embracing Ramadan, the Ramadan lights making a return for a fourth year in a row and mainstream clothing brands launching modest collections! These mark huge changes in inclusivity (and perhaps capitalism!) and really makes you feel not alone during this holy month.
Annnd back to the food, there are over 20 restaurants offering iftar menus and the list just seems to be growing. From fancy Peruvian fusion food to wagyu sandos to shortrib kebba, you’re definitely going to find somewhere on this guide to break your fast. We’ll be updating this list regularly with new restaurants so be sure to bookmark it!

Coya, Mayfair
Trust Coya to pull out all the stops when it comes to iftar! Coya Mayfair are launching an iftar set menu for £65pp; a little on the pricey side but one to save if your special occasion happens to fall during Ramadan. Break your fast with medjool dates, soup of the day, guacamole and flat bread, before being treated to an array of appetisers including wagyu gyoza, chicken empanadas and shiitake tacos, just to name a few. You’ll have a choice of one main like the Chilean sea bass cazeula, lomo saltado (beef stir fry) or the lamb ribs. Thankfully, dessert – a pistachio tres leche – is to share as you won’t have any space left !

Chargal, Mayfair
Chargal is the newish Turkish Mediterranean restaurant that spans over three whole floors in Mayfair – it’s a pretty lavish affair. For Ramadan, they will be running a spectacular three course menu which includes wagyu kofte piyaz, mixed mezza and za’atar flatbread to start with. Main course offers a choice of grills; adana, tavuk and kuzu mixed şiş, greek style wild seabass or a brown butter sweet potato with a smoked almond praline and kumquat. Desserts include the chocolate sorbet with bee pollen or a milk kadiyif.

Meet Bros, Paddington and Shoreditch
Meet Bros are back again this year for Ramadan but this year, they have a new second location set in Shoreditch and they’ll be hosting one single, shared seating Iftar every evening so you better get yourself booked in! The Ramadan menu will showcase the restaurant’s most loved dishes like the steak sando, selection of steaks and biryanis. They have also converted the entire first floor of the restaurant into a segregated and serene prayer room for men and women for the month.

Ramadan Lights London, Coventry Street
The Ramadan Lights London is back for the fourth year this Ramadan! Sponsored by the Aziz foundation, a non-profit organisation, the Ramadan lights are currently illuminating Coventry Street with their lovely aerial installations consisting of 30,000 LED bulbs. The lights will be running from 5:00pm to 5:00am everyday throughout Ramadan until the 20th of March where they will then switch to an Eid display.
For the second time, they will be running an iftar trail where they have teamed up with a few West End restaurants to offer us hungry Halalarians Ramadan discounts. Here are the participating restaurants:
- Shakeshack, Covent Garden, Tottenham Court Road and Leicester Square – free portion of chips with a burger, ShakeStack or chicken bites purchase at Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus and Tottenham Court Road locations from 5pm. Quote “Iftar Food Trail”.
- 1 Leicester Square Rooftop Restaurant – they will be serving a three-course iftar menu for £50pp.
- Pizza Express Haymarket, Angus Steakhouse, and Steak and Company – 10-20% off the bill. Quote “Iftar Food Trail”.

The Mayfair Chippy, Knightsbridge
The award-winning Mayfair Chippy will be doing a special iftar menu through Ramadan this year at their Knightsbridge location. Break your fast with roasted cashews, medjool dates, lentil soup and a refreshing glass of lemon-mint water, followed by a Chippy Mezze of fish or vegetarian dishes to share. For mains, the sharing menu gives you a choice between the Mayfair Classic of fried cod and haddock goujons, king prawns and chips; a grilled whole seabass that has been marinated in chermoula and served with a lemon butter, za’atar chips and labneh salad; or a Middle-Eastern shepherds pie made with braised lamb shoulder, apricot and sumac potato. Desserts include an assortment of truffles.

InterContinental Park Lane, Park Lane
Chef Ayesha Kalaji, an award-winning Jordanian chef and contestant of Masterchef: The Professionals, will be collaborating with the InterContinental Park Lane hotel again this Ramadan for a special Iftar feast. Hosted at the Wellington Lounge in the hotel, the sharing menu will feature dishes such as spiced confit chicken with crispy kunafa pastry and aleppo chilli, chestnut muhammara, and nabulsi cheese with black lime. For dessert, you can expect frozen yoghurt with baklava, figs and honey so you’ll leave feeling sufficiently full!

Villa Mamas, Chelsea
Tucked away on Elystan Street is the ultimate cosy vibe and date-night restaurant: Villa Mamas. This fantastic Bahraini restaurant will be running a very generous three-course menu for the duration of Ramadan and trust me, it was a great iftar. Go for the lentil soup to break fast with and you’ll also be provided with an assortment of sambosas and dates for the table. For the mains, you can choose from chicken tahchin (layered rice with yoghurt chicken), mozat laham (slow braised lamb shank), kibbeh and more. Save space though as desserts include an agali tres leche, Um Ali or saffron ice cream. Just don’t forget to order the vimto slushy.

Ta’mini Bakery, Russell Square and Kensington
Ta’mini bakery will be offering a great value iftar menu this Ramadan set at £25pp. You’ll break fast with dates and a refreshing glass of jallab, followed by a hearty bowl of lentil soup and pita. Next is your choice of a manakish or wrap – I recommend going for one of their fantastic manakish – for mains and a dessert of your choosing to end the meal. This offer is available at their Kensington and Russell Square locations.

Bacchanalia, Mayfair
Want a restaurant where you walk in and are blown away? Head to Bacchanalia this Ramadan as they are running a special £20 iftar add on when you are dining a la carte. You’ll be breaking your fast with an assortment of sweet treats like dates, halwa, Turkish delight and kefir, and once you’ve eaten mains to your heart’s content, you can finish with a golden filo custard dessert. The open grill section of the menu is all halal, with the exception of the leg of lamb, and you’ll find salt crust sea bass, rib eye on the bone with a grape mustard and thyme butter, and steak taglioni.

Bombay Bustle, Mayfair
Bombay Bustle have collaborated with Pernia Qureshi, the author of Ammi’s Kitchen recipe book, for a special Iftar menu for Ramadan this year. Inspired by her grandmother’s recipes and memories, Pernia’s three-course menu reflects the culinary traditions of Rampur so you can expect kathal kebab, chicken kali mirch, yakhni pulao and phirni. This is one to take the parents.

Harrods, Knightsbridge
This year, Harrods are working together with some of their in-house restaurants to create iftar specials for those who are observing the fast. Here are the participating restaurants:
- Em Sherif will be doing a limited-edition iftar menu priced at £90pp.
- Somewhere Cafe will be running three set iftar menus for 2 or 3 guests; priced at £80pp. Dishes include shortrib kebba, wagyu kebab bao, chicken jalapeno fatteh and pleny more. Dates, ayran and lentil soup will be complimentary per guest. Don’t walk, run!

Juma‘s Ramadan Nights, Holloway
Philip Juma from JUMA Kitchen in Borough Market will be running iftar supper clubs every weekend during Ramadan and just from eating his kibbeh already, I know its going to be good. The menu changes weekly so one week you’ll be in tucking into falafel and chicken biryani and another week, mushroom chap and lamb dolma. Desserts will be led by a surprise guest chef so this is not one to miss!

Mr White’s English Chophouse, Whitechapel
If you’re looking to break fast with a group of friends, Mr White’s English Chophouse is offering a superb sharing iftar menu priced at £49pp. Start with a variety of stuffed dates, zamzam water, a refreshing strawberry lemonade and an assortment of starters to share. Mains will follow and you can choose one dish from the sirloin steak, chimichurri chicken and a pan roast salmon; all served with sides. You will have to find space to accommodate the puddings coming next and these gulab jamun tiramisu, forest fruit crumble and om ali. Children under 7 get to eat free with every paying adult!

Dishoom, All Locations
Dishoom have always placed a huge importance on Ramadan every year and have accommodated Muslims across the country during the holy month with their special Ramadan events and menu.T his year, they will be running an Iftar Feast menu for groups of 4 or more throughout Ramadan. The set menu contains some of Dishoom favourites like the keema pau, black dahl, okra fries and chaat, as a lead up to the star of the show: the lamb korma with khamiri roti or the chole puri halwa. Grills, biryani, all the side dishes you need and desserts of kulfi are also included.
The Iftar Feast menu will cost £35pp and is available for groups of 4 or more diners. It will be available after sunset throughout Ramadan until 18th March. Booking is advised!

The Great Chase, Islington Square
Having moved to a newer and bigger space, The Great Chase is ready to welcome even more guests for their fantastic iftar tasting menu this Ramadan. For £78pp, it may seem a little on the pricey side but with dishes like the lamb bon bons, citrus and fennel carpaccio, and the grilled beef fillet, its certainly an iftar treat and a great option if you have an anniversary or birthday in the next few weeks ! Booking is essential over here so be sure to reserve early to avoid disappointment.

You may be familiar with Bursa restaurant for their humongous Turkish breakfasts that are all over instagram. They’re doing a special set Iftar menu this Ramadan which will feature a lentil soup or Çoban salad to start with, followed by mixed doner and shawarma plate, lamb/chicken biryani or Iraqi Quzi (slow cooked lamb) to choose from for mains. To end, you will have the dessert of the day and Turkish tea. Quran will be playing before and during the iftar and dates and fresh housemade ayran will also be available to break your fast with.

The Open Iftar initiative by the Ramadan Tent Project is back for the 12th year running! Their aim has always been to bring together people from different cultures and faiths over iftar to share the Ramadan spirit with them. You’ll be breaking fast in venues across the UK like Trafalgar Square, The National Gallery, King’s College Cambridge, and many more places. Having been before, it really is a fun concept and great way to make new friends; bring a friend or two along if you don’t want to go on your own.

Iftar Feast at Comptoir Libanais, all UK locations
Comptoir Libanais are running a special iftar feast menu across the whole of the UK for the duration of this Ramadan. For £29.95 per person, you can have a 3 course set iftar which includes a selection of mezze, one large plate (a hard choice between a lamb kibbeh fattet, mixed grill, aubergine tagine and a Mama Zohra salad), and finally, a rose mouhalabia or orange and almond cake to finish off the meal. If you can’t commit to sitting in, you can also pre-order for click and collect or delivery so you can break your fast in the comfort of your own home!

Farzi, Haymarket
Farzi will be offering a special two-course iftar meal for the duration of Ramadan this year. Start with a basket of crispy papad, roohafza and some sticky dates, before the main star of the show arrives: the charsi tawa platter! The platter contains lamb burra chops, chicken adana kebab,tandoori chicken, malai paneer and a spiced lamb keema; all of which comes with rice, naan, and daal makhani. I wouldn’t expect you have to space after all of that but for an additional £2.99, you can treat yourself to the Chef’s special Eid dessert.
