Romantic Restaurants in London

You’ll never guess what time of the year it is again? Nope, not Eid, and not my birthday either (although, this should be celebrated all year long), but Valentine’s day! Yay! Yes, I know we don’t do Valentine’s Day, and yes, I know everyday should be like valentines day *rolls eyes*, but I feel kind of left out when everyone else around me is being spoilt with heart-shaped cupcakes, flower bouquets the size of my thighs, and humongous fluffy teddy bears. Where are my presents, my flowers, my teddy bears????

Everyone deserves to be spoilt once in a while, and so I’ve come up with a few romantic date ideas for that someone special (hint hint BW!). And by popular request, I’ve also listed a few romantic restaurants in London that serve halal at the end of the post to help you when in need!

Something different

Persian
Mahdi’s Persian Feast

Connect to your inner geekiness a la Ross from Friends style, and catch a planetarium showing at the Royal Observatory. You can have lunch or an early dinner at Zeytin or Chai Ki. Alternatively, book tickets for the Magical Lantern Festival in Chiswick where you will be in awe at over 50 colourful and huge lantern displays across the park, plus they have a Serendipity-esque ice-skating rink! Finish the evening off with dinner at family-run Mahdi’s for a good Persian feast.

All meat is halal at Mahdi and Zeytin, and chicken and lamb at Chai Ki.

Something physical

Okay okay, let’s not get the wrong idea, I’m talking about actually doing something active to get those endorphins working (with clothes on). If your other half is a particular thrill-seeker, book the sunset climb with Up at the O2 which has an insane 360degree view across the capital and then dinner across the river at Hazev as an after-climb treat.

All meats are halal at Hazev.

Something for him

As the saying goes, the key to a man’s heart is through his stomach, so why not spoil him to a three course candlelit dinner at home? Of course, not everyone is culinary talented (sorry BW), so treat him to a high-end good quality steak with all the uber-buttery, creamy trimmings at one of these classic steakhouses: Meat Co, Zelman Meats at Harvey Nichols, and CUT at 45 Park Lane?

The Meat Co have a halal menu for their foods with a separate halal kitchen and fridge. The Australian wagyu is always halal at CUT and chicken can be pre-ordered, and halal option always available in Zelman Meats at Harvey Nichols. 48h notice needed for Zelman Meats in Soho.

Something before the show

Talli Joe lamb Chop
Juicy Lamb Chop from Talli Joe

One of the easiest and most impressive dates to organise, a show in London’s West End theatre district is ideal. There are plenty of restaurants dotted around, but to really make it a special date, book the pre-theatre set menu at Christopher’s, a classic American eatery in a pretty setting. A more casual restaurant is Talli Joe, a fun Indian-tapas experience. Get dessert at Hatch Waffle after the show!

Halal must be pre-ordered 72h in advance for Christopher’s, and all the meats are halal in Talli Joe.

Something with a view

Nothing seems more romantic than watching the sunset with a view over London so plan a trip to the London Eye, and if you’re feeling particularly loving, book the “Cupid’s Capsule” for two. For fabulous food with fantastic views, then head to Ting for their Afternoon Tea, Galvin at Windows on Park Lane or Darwin at Sky Garden.

Halal must be ordered a day in advance for Ting and a week in advance for Galvin and Darwin.

Something outside London

halal charcuterie
Cona’s Stunning Charcuterie

If you really want to pull out all the stops for that special lady in your life, drive up North to Cona, the UK’s best halal fine-dining restaurant, and one of my personal favourite dates of all time. It is the ultimate indulgent meal with the likes of Japanese wagyu steaks, creamy pomme puree, and deliciously sinful chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream – you can’t go wrong with a menu like this. Make a weekend out of it and stay in a cute B+B in the stunning Peak District, or try your hand at glamping (a.k.a luxury camping).

All meats served at Cona is halal.
