The Datery

As much as I love celebrating Eid, I’ve come to find that the older I’ve become, the less presents I receive and the more I end up buying for others. All the Eid money I would line my pockets with to visit Woolworths back in the day now ends up going straight into my bank account to make up for the generous gift shopping I’ve been doing.

This year, I’ve been a lot better during the two Eids, and found the perfect solution: dates! Dates are known to be a great source of energy, reduce risk of heart disease, pumped with plenty of minerals to promote bone strength, and help those with abdominal cancer. Plus, they play an important role in Islam as they are one of the blessings that would be offered in Paradise as mentioned in the Quran.

The Datery is a fairly new company run by husband and wife, Mohammed and Aisha, and specialises in hand-crafted gourmet dates that use the highest-quality ingredients. Naturally a popular choice during Ramadan, The Datery products have also been great to take to someone’s house for special occasions, as cute wedding favours, and even just to keep at your own home.

Of course, anything healthy (or food-related) that is covered in chocolate (sooooo maybe not that healthy after all), topped with crushed nuts, and sprinkled with flakes of sea salt is the ideal present for me (hint hint BW).
