Zeit and Zaatar is a no-frills Lebanese bakery situated on Uxbridge Road – a halal cheap eats goldmine! You can watch the staff knead the dough and pile the manakish high with toppings, before placing them inside the hot fiery oven. Whilst it might not be the most atmospheric restaurant, the constant aroma of freshly baked bread and the gooeyness of the cheese will lure you right in.
The menu consists of 10 inch flatbreads with an assortment of toppings, ranging from £1.75 to £4. You can easily fit in two or three manakish and keep it under £10, just like the platter above. I highly recommend the zaatar and labneh [£1.75], the basterma and cheese [£3.00], and the mohammereh with cheese [£3.00]. Don’t forget dessert – nutella and pistachio manakish – which is dreamy and worth every calorie.
