The bar for fried chicken has been raised year by year in London and there are so many amazing gourmet halal fried chicken spots around town these days. It’s time to ditch the greasy chicken shops and treat your palate to some proper finger-licking good fried chicken from this list of our favourites in town.

Only Jerkin’, Various Locations

Only Jerkin’s glorious ginger beer battered chicken nuggets are the absolute dream of fried chicken. Whilst they’re amazing on their own with a side of their signature jerk ketchup, the real magic lies with having these fried chicken nuggets slathered with their glorious jerk gravy.

Salted caramel wings – don’t knock it till you try it from Thunderbird! The unusual flavour combo is one of Thunderbird’s signature flavours and an incredibly popular one. The Chippufalo is also a must-try as it earned itself the best buffalo wings in London at WingFest and from there, Thunderbird has only gone from strength to strength.

One of the first for halal gourmet fried chicken, Mother Clucker is still standing strong with their signature tea-brined, buttermilk soaked, twice battered fried chicken. You can still find them at the very first location at the Truman Brewery operating from a converted US Army ambulance, as well as at Flat Iron Square and delivery kitchens nationwide.

It’s always exciting when an American joint opens up a site across the pond. Wingstop has been incredibly popular in America and is very much well-loved here in London as well. There are plenty of flavours, at various different spice levels, to choose from

Their K-Pop burger is one to make the taste buds sing and is voted as one of the best dishes in London on TimeOut magazine. The disco wings are also a popular pick where you can choose from kung pao, hot, or naked flavour. Don’t forget to pair it with a side of their addictively delicious beef-dripping fries and/or their unique pickled watermelon salad. If you pre-order when reserving a table, they do a whole fried chicken on Sundays as well.

Slim’s Chicken is another Texas American joint that landed in the UK. But there’s nothing slimming about Slim’s Chicken. Their signature is the buttermilk chicken tenders, served with dipping sauce of your choice, fries, and Texas toast. The chicken itself wasn’t anything special in our opinion but they win on convenient location and the dips were nice.
