It’s time to ditch the greasy chicken shops and treat your palate to some proper finger-licking good fried chicken from this list of our favourites in town.

Only Jerkin’, Various Locations
Only Jerkin’s glorious ginger beer battered chicken nuggets are the absolute dream of fried chicken. Whilst they’re amazing on their own with a side of their signature jerk ketchup, the real magic lies with having these fried chicken nuggets slathered with their glorious jerk gravy.

Thunderbird Chicken, Various Locations
Salted caramel wings – don’t knock it till you try it from Thunderbird! The unusual flavour combo is one of Thunderbird’s signature flavours and an incredibly popular one. The Chippufalo is also a must-try as it earned itself the best buffalo wings in London at WingFest and from there, Thunderbird has only gone from strength to strength.

Wingmans, Kilburn and Soho
After their success in Kilburn, Wingmans has launched in Soho and has become a big hit in the area. Expect crispy and succulent buttermilk wings, tossed in their signature sauces and are an absolute firecracker to the palate! Our favourite is the Bang Coq wings which is an exclusive flavour at the Soho branch.

Coqfighter, Various Locations
Coqfighter pride themselves in serving “fried chicken for grown ups” – meaning they are all about fresh produce, premium ingredients, and big flavours. The green chilli cheese fried chicken burger is our go-to and its quality speaks for itself. They also have a bao option, as well as wings and some side dishes especially at their Soho branch.

Mother Clucker, Various Locations
One of the first for halal gourmet fried chicken, Mother Clucker is still standing strong with their signature tea-brined, buttermilk soaked, twice battered fried chicken. You can still find them at the very first location at the Truman Brewery operating from a converted US Army ambulance, as well as at Flat Iron Square and delivery kitchens nationwide.

It’s always exciting when an American joint opens up a site across the pond. Wingstop has been incredibly popular in America and is very much well-loved here in London as well. There are plenty of flavours, at various different spice levels, to choose from

Chick N’ Sours, Various Locations
Chick N’ Sours has a relatively small menu but is no short of surprises to the palate. Their K-Pop burger is one to make the taste buds sing and is voted as one of the best dishes in London on TimeOut magazine. The disco wings are also a popular pick where you can choose from kung pao, hot, or naked flavour. Don’t forget to pair it with a side of their addictively delicious beef-dripping fries and/or their unique pickled watermelon salad. If you pre-order when reserving a table, they do a whole fried chicken on Sundays as well.

White Men Can’t Jerk. Peckham
White Men Can’t Jerk is all about some seriously good jerk chicken and Caribbean fusion food. From their staple Jerk Chicken & Fries to Jerk Chicken Burger, it’s guaranteed to be a flavour party that makes them so popular in South London. They also make a mean Mac & Cheese that pairs impeccably well with the chicken!

Goodbirds, Marylebone
Goodbirds are more known for their rotisserie chicken but they also make some lovely crispy dive bar chicken wings. The battered wings are fried to crispy perfection and are dressed with a Dutch-style spicy peanut cashew sauce which is perfect for a quick bite at Market Hall West End.

Drums & Flats, Warren Street
Drums & Flats bloomed from a childhood friendship and feature a menu that showcase their passions for feel-good food inspired by flavours they grew up on. Whether it’s a punchy buffalo chicken or a stick bbq wings, their wings are no doubt finger-licking good.

Slim Chickens, Soho
Slim’s Chicken is another Texas American joint that landed in the UK. But there’s nothing slimming about Slim’s Chicken. Their signature is the buttermilk chicken tenders, served with dipping sauce of your choice, fries, and Texas toast. The chicken itself wasn’t anything special in our opinion but they win on convenient location and the dips were nice.

Good Friend Fried Chicken is a popular Taiwanese fried chicken spot in London Chinatown and the chicken is halal there. Our favourite is the popcorn chicken bites and you can choose from a range of seasoning to coat over that crispy chicken!

Monga UK, Chinatown
Another Taiwanese fried chicken spot is Monga UK. Their signature, though, is a giant fried chicken slathered with tomato sauce & melted cheese. So think of a pizza but in the form of a fried chicken as the base – it’s no doubt one serious guilty pleasure.

Angel Fried Chicken, Stratford
There’s a new Taiwanese style fried chicken spot, Angel Fried Chicken, opening in Stratford. Apart from the classic giant fried chicken fillet and chicken popcorn, they also do fried wings, drumsticks, and fried whole chicken! The fried whole chicken is their signature and comes with sauce of your choice and fries.

Los Pollos Bravos, Hackney
Brined and sous vide-d, then coated in buttermilk and their secret spice blend, Los Pollos Bravos is one to look out for good quality fried chicken. The Richard & Mortimer burger is quite a special one, featuring fried chicken thigh with a peanut satay slaw, mayonnaise, ginger & spring onion oil and Miso & Szechuan sauce.
